To The Manor Born is a predominant and compelling group of images and a very important book! Mary was willing to share herself and her family history with all of us, and at some cost, while she shed light on what so many of us might only have imagined...life at the wealthy end...and in the end, there were always cultural and class issues, but her work overcame all of those. She made such wonderful pictures...grounded in ID image making...Arthur and Aaron and Harry and Emmit and Garry and Minor were so proud of her. Mary helped me in understanding so much about her life, and in addition on how to make a picture...her honesty was truly praiseworthy and her images were real and absorbing and most of all...wonderful...!
